Yippee!! It's release day for Burn!! I'm so excited. Doing my happy dance now!! lol!

Eye-Opening Edits

So I'm almost finished with my final edits and I just want to say...How the hell is it that I have left out so many words, used so many wrong words, and put it so many extra words? Or used so many fragments, left out so many commas, and used so damn many elipses.  I mean...duh...I read the thing who knows how many times before I even submitted it, and it's full of this kind of stupidity. How did they even accept it for publication with so many idiotic mistakes?


The tremors continued to move over him, and she worried that was doing something wrong.

Really? I actually wrote that? And my first editor missed it? 

And I appreciate the proofreader's diplomacy when he/she asks? "Is the word she missing here?" lol!

Or this...


And other instances that he thought it better not to mention those just yet. 

WTH? Why is "those" even in this sentence?

And how about...

The printer kicked on, and in a few seconds Quinn was handing the one of the pictures to Hawk. 

And the proofreader..."Is there an extra word here?" lmao! Yes, there there is. 


Lordy, lordy. I'm learning a lot...mostly that I frequently write with all the skills of a first grader. And hell...I refuse to go back and proofread this blog entry. I'm just a putz like that!!! (Did I use that right? lol!)

Edits Done!

Got my edits sent in yesterday...almost a week ahead of the deadline. Yeah, me! I made some changes suggested by my editor so that the book will fit a different line. Hope everything works. Not sure if I'll have to do more edits or not. I'd rather spend my time working on the sequel, Thirst. I dillydallied around with ideas, but now I'm sure the book will be Hawk and Claire's story. Hawk, of course, was a major character in the first book. Claire will be a new character, a newly made vampire looking for her sister who was taken as a bloodslave. I've changed my mind so many times about this book that I don't feel like I'm making any progress. I keep having to rewrite sections. Hopefully that has ended and now I can move forward with the story.

Edits--ugh! Not as fun as writing...

I've been working on my edits for "Burn" for the last week or so. They're due back by the 7th of June and I'm almost done. I just want to go back and double check that I didn't miss anything. I was a little confused by some of the directions so I hope I did everything right. My editor suggested that I change a couple things so that the book will fit into a different line that they have at Siren. I did as suggested. Hope she likes the changes. Learning the ropes of the publishing industry has been very interesting.

Cover Request Form

I just completed a cover request form for my book, Burn, and have joined Siren's yahoo author groups. I'm starting to feel more and more excited about this book. I've got to get cracking on the second book. I've got some great ideas for it. It will definitely be Quinn and Hawk's story, along with a newly-turned vampire who's in a lot of trouble. Her name is Susannah, and she's got plenty of problems of her own. Let's just say that Simone will be making another appearance (of course). lol! I'm debating what to call this new book. I'd thought to use Freeze or something like that, but now I'm leaning more towards Thirst. Yeah. I like that one.

Write, Write, Write

So, this whole I'm finished with my book thing is a little anticlimactic. I was offered a contract for Burn, though I haven't signed it yet. And there's nothing else going on on that front. I worked on my site, which I think is looking pretty bitching!! Love the colors. I did it all myself. It's actually not that hard with blogger and a banner program.

And since my book is the first in a series, I've begun working on the second book. I though it was going to be Quinn's story, but it seems to be metamorphing into Quinn and Hawk's story. Yeppers, I think it's going to be a menage, which is something I didn't intend. Kinda strange how the characters take you places you didn't know you were going. And I thought I was in the driver's seat. lol! WRONG!!!
