Here's another snippet from Burn, the first book in my series All-American Vampires, that releases July 7 at Siren.
Before she could make up her mind, a bump against the car had her eyes darting back to the rear view mirror. Oh, God, they’d caught her. She sped up, tires squealing as she flew around a tight curve. Another bump sent her car swerving out of control. Skidding and sliding in the loose gravel on the side of the road, the car careened down the shallow embankment and slammed to a screeching halt against a small pine tree. Her head flew sideways with a jerk, knocking against the driver’s side window, and then everything went black.
Ooh, who is she running from and will the hero find her first? Great Six, Bree!
ReplyDeleteOh, great tension in the chase!
ReplyDeleteAnd then everything went black?? You can't stop there! Excellent chase.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Hope she's okay!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, that's trouble. Hope she gets a chance to wake up.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing six!
ReplyDeleteIt's those "bumps" on the back of her car I think she needs to worry about. Can't wait for this to come out!
ReplyDeleteUh oh! Given the title, it makes me wonder if the vampires are after her. Definite hook here.
ReplyDeleteooh, why is she running? Need more!
ReplyDeleteYou're leaving us with a lot of unanswered questions. Now I *have* to read more! Oh, riiiight. ;)
ReplyDeleteYikes! What's next?
ReplyDeleteEek! Congrats on the release. :)
ReplyDeleteNow she can't even fight back. Wonder what's going to happen to her while she's knocked out. I think that would be the most terrifying moment, when you realize you're passing out but can't stop it.
ReplyDeleteVery tense and intriguing! Congrats on your upcoming release!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release, can't wait! I loved the six very exciting, I always love a good car chase!
ReplyDeleteHow did you get a whole chase scene into six sentences?
ReplyDelete(It probably takes more than six sentences to explain, like most good things.)
And then everything goes black. This feels like the kind of ending that has me going to the next chapter even when it's way too late and I should put the book down.
Oooh! You can't leave us there with her in the ditch! Great writing, tension building and scene setting. Excellent six!
ReplyDeleteWay to end on a cliffhanger!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, she's seems to be in trouble now. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteWow, very tense, exciting moment. I have to know what will happen next!
ReplyDeleteGreat scene. Love the cliffhanger. :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, you can't leave us hanging like that! Can't wait to read more next week.

ReplyDeleteWhat a cliffhanger! Will they get her? And what will they do to her? And who the heck are they? Too many questions! Need answers next week! Great six!
ReplyDeleteWow, exciting - and very well described in just six sentences.
ReplyDeleteOh no, that's the worst time to have an accident and become unconscious - when people are after you!! Great snippet!

Dawn's Early Light 6SS
Congrats on the July 7th release! Great suspenseful cliffhanger! I'm big vampire fan--
ReplyDeleteand also a little older than most 6-sentence Sunday writers so I blush to say it--but I need to say that it took me 5 minutes to find the Comments area with the purple text on black background. I felt like the X-Files team entering the dark room with flashlights. My cursor flash-lighting around the page looking for the link till I finally found it!
Thanks for the feedback, Lynne. I've been playing with my page a lot lately, trying to make it more user friendly. I'm going to try some things so that hopefully you won't have to play detective next time. lol!
ReplyDeleteA lot of great tension and a great ending to the six.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate all the comments and feedback! I'm really loving SSS!! lol!
ReplyDeleteI could feel her fear! I'm frightened for her! Way to make me care about what's gonna happen to her! Now I need to know who she was running from and why! LOL Congrats on the release!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a tension-filled excerpt! and you leave us dangling... Bad of you! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the suspense! Congratulations on the up-coming release :)
ReplyDeleteOuch! I often manage to bump my head against the side window, even without a wreck. LOL Hope some hero finds her before the bad guys. ;)
ReplyDeleteNerve wracking excerpt. Need to know what happens next!
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny (or perhaps not?) is that I wasn't sure what was bumping her car, since it's never specified if it's a vehicle or otherwise :)
ReplyDeleteGreat cliffhanger! Can't wait to read more :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh, great action! Nice job.
