Six Sentence Sunday

Here's another snippet from Burn, the first book in my series All-American Vampires, that releases July 7 at Siren.

Before she could make up her mind, a bump against the car had her eyes darting back to the rear view mirror. Oh, God, they’d caught her. She sped up, tires squealing as she flew around a tight curve. Another bump sent her car swerving out of control. Skidding and sliding in the loose gravel on the side of the road, the car careened down the shallow embankment and slammed to a screeching halt against a small pine tree. Her head flew sideways with a jerk, knocking against the driver’s side window, and then everything went black.

  13. How did you get a whole chase scene into six sentences?

(It probably takes more than six sentences to explain, like most good things.)

And then everything goes black. This feels like the kind of ending that has me going to the next chapter even when it's way too late and I should put the book down.

  38. Congrats on the July 7th release! Great suspenseful cliffhanger! I'm big vampire fan--
and also a little older than most 6-sentence Sunday writers so I blush to say it--but I need to say that it took me 5 minutes to find the Comments area with the purple text on black background. I felt like the X-Files team entering the dark room with flashlights. My cursor flash-lighting around the page looking for the link till I finally found it!
